Water Tender Operator Training

Central Calaveras Fire has volunteers that specialize in driving the District’s water tenders.  These apparatus range from a 3000 gallon, 60,000 pound truck to our more maneuverable 1250 gallon, 35,000 pound truck.

Water tenders are a fire hydrant on wheels and are essential for firefighting activities since there are very few actual fire hydrants within the Central Calaveras Fire District.

The volunteers of CCFRPD that have taken on the responsibility of operating these special pieces of equipment spend hours training on pump operations and learning how to operate the different equipment on these trucks.  Water Tender operators also get specialized training in rural water supply which teaches them how to locate water sources, safely access the source, pump water into the truck, and then return to a fireline in a timely manner.

Water Tenders play a vital role in Central Calaveras Fire Districts ability to respond to any type of fire in a timely manner.
